The Book!

Title: Adrift

Author: Isabel Jolie

Publication date: June 8th 2021

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

I can be your dream girl…for a price…

Ever heard of Only Fans? It’s not my ideal job, but it pays the bills.

It’s even made me somewhat of a celebrity. My subscribers love my provocative shots, and I’m oh-so-good at teasing them.

Then he shows up in my small town and complicates everything.

See, Mr. Green-Eyed Gazillionaire is so far out of my league it’s ridiculous. We’re polar opposites.

That doesn’t change the fact that even though I’m a fantasy to most men, I only want to be his reality.

But nothing real can ever happen between us. Logically, I know that.

Too bad logic and I have never had anything but a passing acquaintance.

Because now, if I’m not careful, I’m afraid this sexy billionaire will smash my poor, pathetic heart into oblivion…

A delicious hot billionaire romance featuring two polar opposites adrift on a resort island with a small-town atmosphere, right of the coast of North Carolina.

This is a steamy contemporary romance with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger, and no cheating.

The Interview!

1. What inspired you to write Adrift?

My husband asked me, “have you ever heard of OnlyFans?”  I hadn’t, and I researched the site. in case you haven’t heard of it, it’s a site that really grew at the start of the pandemic. Every day folks can start a page, and they post photos or videos or whatever…and people follow. Often they’ll have a “private” section that subscribers pay to access each month. Many successful “celebs” earn six figure incomes from the site.

While researching OnlyFans, I was reading the nonfiction book Billion Dollar Whale, and the two ideas coalesced.

2.  What was your favorite scene to write?

I loved the scenes where Poppy comes into her own and she doesn’t let Gabe push her around. At one point she closes the screen door in his face, when he’s so sure he’s going to get exactly what he wants. I loved that scene. But really, I love any scene with a strong woman holding her own.

3. If Adrift were food, what dish would it be?

Strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream

4. If Adrift got a movie adaptation, which artists would you like to be part of the soundtrack?

Jack Johnson, A 20 Something F**k, Jack Garratt, Foo Fighters, The Shins, Bonnie Somerville, Chainsmokers

5. What’s something you want your readers to take away from this story?

That so often all those social photos with gorgeous people are cropped, diced and filtered….because all of us can look at a photo of ourselves and see something different than what others see. We tend to be hyper self-critical, and even people who are so photogenic that others pay money to look at their photos can suffer from that affliction. In reality, we’ve all got quote unquote flaws, but so often, no one else fixates on them quite the way we do. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and nothing brings that to light better than the age of the edited selfie.

6. Tell us about your future projects!

I’m currently preparing First Light, the third book in the Haven Island series, for my editor. Cali and Logan’s story will release on September 28. Cali is the tutor that Tate hired for his adopted daughter. She’s the reclusive divorcee that everyone assumes must be reeling from an emotional separation. However, in this situation, all those assumptions are completely wrong. When she falls for Logan, a cop, he’s exactly the kind of guy she has no business falling for.
